The SRAC meetings have been change to the Library every other month. There will be a speaker at each meeting. Here is the schedule. February 11 ~ Program, Willard Dominick. Willard will discuss his artwork during World War II. He did numerous sketches, some of which are in museums and galleries. He will also give a history of his artwork and his career in fine arts. We encourage all members to attend this worthy program by one of Clearfield and SRAC’s finest artists. Refreshments will be provided. WE ARE CONSIDERING MAKING A SRAC WALL CALENDAR TO SELL FOR THE YEAR 2011. WE NEED YOUR IDEAS. WHERE CAN WE GET IT MADE AT THE MOST REASONABLE COST? SHOULD WE PUT THE ARTWORK OUT FOR THE PUBLIC TO VOTE FOR THEIR FAVORITE PICTURE AT $1.00 A VOTE? OR DO WE CHOOSE A PANEL OF JUDGES TO SELECT THE ARTWORK? SHOULD WE CHARGE EACH ARTIST AN ENTRY FEE? WE NEED INPUT FROM OUR MEMBERS! THESE CALENDARS NEED TO BE DONE BY JULY-AUGUST FOR US TO GET THEM OUT AND SOLD.April 8 ~ Program, Gaius “Doc”Hanawalt. Doc will speak to the club about Segmented Wood Turning. He will have pictures to show us the timetable of events that turn pieces of wood into a beautiful bowl! This is really a mathematical creation. He will have bowls that he created for us to see the finished product. Doc has won many awards at SRAC juried shows.June 10 ~ Program, Ryan Scaife. Ryan is a self taught artist other than art classes at Philipsburg Osceola High School. According to Steve Hindman, one of Ryan’s art teachers, says, “Ryan is one talented guy!” He is currently attending Lock Haven University majoring in Business and with a minor in Graphic Design. A lot of his work features major sports figures. He will bring artwork with him and tell us about marketing artwork. He started doing work for Penn State where he developed a friendship with Jeremy Maybin, who now plays for the Buffalo Bills. Scaife taught Maybin art and Maybin taught Scaife about philanthropy. Club President Christionk Iraca said this will be a good program. Our Spring show will be hung at this time for all to see. Refreshments will be served and we will have a meeting.August 12 ~ Program, Ginny Baggett. Ginny is a SRAC member and has shown in most of our Juried Shows. She will teach us all about Silk Screen Printing. This is something a lot of us have been interested in but don’t know much about how it works. Come prepared for a delightful evening with Ginny and her wonderful talents. Refreshments will be served. We will also discuss the Riverfront Festival and our Spring Art Show. Remember all meetings are at the Shaw Public Library on designated Thursdays and begin at 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
